**Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities**

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Substation Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Joplin, Missouri office.

**Responsibilities**

+ The position includes working individually within a team to complete complex and technically challenging aspects of electrical utility substation design and understanding and adhering to client standards.
+ Perform the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations. Typical designs include but are not limited to:
+ One-line diagrams
+ Protection and control schematic development
+ Wiring diagrams
+ SCADA
+ Communications
+ Substation physical plan and elevation drawings
+ Material lists
+ Conduit and cable sizing/routing
+ AC and DC systems calculations and sizing
+ Substation grounding
+ Participation in quality assurance and quality control programs.

**Required Education/Experience**

+ BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSME (BS Mechanical Engineering) from an accredited university preferably with a power option.
+ Candidate must have understanding of substation equipment and its function.
+ Candidate shall have good command of the Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.
+ The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
+ Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

**Desired Education/Experience**

+ Two (2) or more years experience in utility substation design is preferred.
+ Ability to produce applicable drawings from rough sketches, notes, vendor drawings, and such.
+ Ability to provide material take-off lists such as P&C equipment, wire conduit, HV connectors, and bus supports.
+ Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
